About Us
Our Story
Three worshipping communities of St Bernard’s (Upper Mt Gravatt), St Catherine’s (Wishart) and St Martin’s (Eight Mile Plains), form the new parish of Upper Mt Gravatt Wishart Catholic Parish. Each community made a rich contribution to this area of Brisbane. We respect and build upon this legacy.
Our three worship centres have around 1400 people gathering each weekend. We have two Catholic primary schools and a large Catholic Co-educational secondary college within our boundaries. There are also six centres of retirement/aged care. We continue to provide a range of pastoral, educational, liturgical and outreach services.
Our Parish Logo
When overlaid on the map of our local area the three points of the triangle point to the three churches of St Bernard’s (Upper Mt Gravatt), St Catherine’s (Wishart) and St Martin’s (Eight Mile Plains). Each community has at its core, the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is symbolised by the cross. It stands high above and encompasses all three communities. The triangle is also an ancient symbol for the Holy Trinity of Father, Son and Holy Spirit the central creed of our Christian faith.
